Program for digital signature using Emirates ID card Launched

Taqnyah Business Solutions, a company working in the field of e-Services in collaboration with its Belgian partner “LetterGen” has launched a program which allows digital signature using the ID card issued by the Emirates Identity Authority.

According to news published today in local newspapers, the launch of the program comes in light of the great success achieved by Emirates ID in developing its smart ID card infrastructure and the comprehensive registration in the ID card among all Emiratis and residents. Emirates ID aims to expand the use of the ID card in all transactions whether to collect data, sign in into websites or digitally sign through the ID card e-reader.

The program, “LetterSigner”, is aimed to facilitate and encourage digital signature using the ID card making it possible to sign digital documents through “MS Word”, Process Automation systems or Content Management Systems.

Mr. Yasser Al Naeim, CEO of “Arms” Group, the owner of Taqnyah Business Solutions, said that “LetterSigner” perfectly matches Emirates ID’s strategy and complements the UAE eGovernment vision seeking to facilitate access to e-services.

For his part, Mr. Mahdi Alami Hamdan, Technology Manager at the company, said that such solutions allow instant usage with MS Word and perfect integration with process automation systems where signature is often a vital part.

Studies show that e-transformation will remain incomplete without the usage of digital signatures, giving the users the ability to legally validate documents with a binding electronic signature, particularly when considering that signatures based on digital certificate are very expensive and requires more costly infrastructure.
